China Issued National Standard GB/T 46220-2025 Technical Specification for Elevator Guide Rails
On September 12, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China officially issued the national standard GB/T 46220-2025 Technical Specification for Elevator Guide Rails, which will be officially implemented on April 1, 2026. This standard is the core special national standard in the field of elevator guide rails in China, replacing the original scattered industry standards, and realizing the unification of elevator guide rail technical specifications. The core contents include: First, clarify the scope of application of the standard, covering T-type guide rails, hollow guide rails, cold-drawn guide rails, and machined guide rails used in all elevator types such as passenger elevators, freight elevators, home elevators, and escalators, applicable to the whole process of design, manufacture, inspection, installation, operation and maintenance of elevator guide rails. Second, establish a classification and model coding system for elevator guide rails, formulate a unified classification standard and model coding rules according to the cross-sectional shape, machining accuracy, material and application scenarios of the guide rails, and realize the standardized identification of guide rail products. Third, refine the material and mechanical performance requirements of elevator guide rails, clarify the mandatory standards for the material, chemical composition, mechanical properties and heat treatment process of the raw materials of the guide rails, and formulate differentiated guide rail material performance requirements for elevators with different load levels and different operating speeds. Fourth, standardize the machining accuracy and quality requirements of elevator guide rails, formulate the accuracy grade classification standard and inspection method for the straightness, twist, parallelism and surface roughness of the guide rail working surface, and clarify the minimum accuracy requirements of guide rails corresponding to elevators with different operating speeds. Fifth, refine the technical specifications for elevator guide rail installation, clarify the technical requirements for the support spacing, connection mode, verticality, parallelism and joint treatment of guide rail installation, and formulate the inspection process and qualification criteria for guide rail installation. Sixth, standardize the inspection and acceptance requirements of elevator guide rails, and formulate the standardized process, test methods and qualification criteria for factory inspection, type test and on-site installation acceptance of guide rails. Seventh, add the seismic and fatigue performance requirements of elevator guide rails, and formulate special technical standards for seismic design and fatigue test for guide rails used in seismic zones, high-rise buildings and high-speed elevators. The release of this standard fills the gap of unified national standards in the field of elevator guide rails in China, comprehensively improves the product quality and installation level of elevator guide rails in China, and promotes the standardized development of the elevator industry.
