This standard is applicable to traction and positive drive passenger elevators with rated speed no more than 2.5m/s, covering the whole scenarios of accessibility design of new building elevators and accessibility transformation of existing elevators. Compared with the old version, the core upgrades of this revision include: first, expanding the scope of application, clearly covering the use needs of all types of disabled people including wheelchair users, visually impaired people, hearing impaired people and mentally handicapped people, and adding additional aging-friendly requirements for the elderly group; second, refining the accessibility design specifications in the car, mandating that the control panel of the barrier-free elevator must be equipped with large-font, high-contrast buttons and Braille signs, the height of the button center from the ground is 0.9m~1.1m, the car must be equipped with three-sided continuous handrails with a height of 0.85m~0.9m, and the minimum net size requirements of the car are clarified to ensure that the wheelchair can rotate 360°; third, improving the accessibility design requirements of landing stations, clarifying the special standards for landing door call buttons, floor display and voice announcement, mandating the configuration of two-way voice announcement and arrival bell functions, the call buttons must be equipped with Braille signs and low-level installation options, and the character height of the visual display device shall not be less than 15mm; fourth, adding intelligent accessibility function specifications, formulating unified technical requirements and adaptation standards for intelligent accessibility functions such as face recognition call, voice call and non-sense passage, and encouraging the configuration of one-key direct connection function for emergency calls in barrier-free elevators; fifth, refining the inspection and acceptance standards for barrier-free elevators, clarifying the whole-process inspection items and judgment criteria for the design, installation and acceptance of barrier-free elevators, and including the accessibility function into the mandatory items of elevator supervision inspection and regular inspection; sixth, improving the accessibility transformation specifications of existing elevators, formulating a graded transformation scheme and minimum transformation requirements for the accessibility upgrading of elevators in old communities, and clarifying the acceptance standards after transformation. The implementation of this standard has comprehensively standardized the design, production and transformation market of barrier-free elevators in China, protected the vertical travel rights and interests of disabled people and the elderly, and also promoted the full integration of China's barrier-free elevator products with the international market, providing standardized technical support for the global export of China's barrier-free elevator products.
