This report is compiled by the China Elevator Association in conjunction with the National Technical Committee for Elevator Standardization of China, covering all categories of commercial escalators, heavy-duty transit escalators and moving walks. It is the first panoramic development and export report for escalators and moving walks in China's elevator industry. The core content and data of the report include: first, the overall industry scale data. In 2024, the annual output of escalators and moving walks in China reached 78,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 5.6%, accounting for more than 75% of the global total output; in 2024, the export volume reached 42,000 units, a year-on-year increase of 10.8%, the export value exceeded 1.26 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 8.9%, and the exports cover 128 countries and regions around the world, ranking first in the world in terms of export volume of escalators and moving walks for 18 consecutive years; second, the export structure ranking of subdivided products. Among the export categories of China's escalators and moving walks in 2024, commercial escalators accounted for 58.2%, ranking first; heavy-duty transit escalators accounted for 26.5%, ranking second; moving walks accounted for 15.3%, ranking third. Among them, the export growth rate of heavy-duty transit escalators was the fastest, with a year-on-year increase of 18.2%, and the main export markets were rail transit, airport and commercial complex projects in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Europe; third, the ranking of export regional markets. The top 10 countries in terms of export value of China's escalators and moving walks in 2024 are: Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia, United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, Malaysia, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico. Among them, countries along the Belt and Road account for 81.5% of the total export value, and ASEAN countries account for 38.7%, which are the core export markets; the export value to the European market increased by 14.3% year-on-year, and the Oceania market increased by 17.6% year-on-year, with a significant increase in the growth rate of high-end markets; fourth, the analysis of global market position. The report shows that in 2024, China's output of escalators and moving walks accounts for 75% of the global total output, and the export volume accounts for 72% of the global total trade volume. Among them, the global market share of heavy-duty transit escalators reaches 68%, and the global market share of core components exceeds 80%. China has formed the most complete industrial chain and supply chain system for escalators and moving walks in the world, and its technical standards and product quality have been widely recognized by the global market; fifth, the analysis of industry development trend. The report points out that the global escalator and moving walk market shows three major development trends: first, the continuous implementation of global rail transit, airport and commercial complex infrastructure projects has driven the rapid growth of demand for heavy-duty transit escalators. It is expected that the average annual growth rate of the global heavy-duty escalator market will remain above 12% from 2025 to 2027; second, energy saving, intelligence and high safety have become the core direction of escalator technology development, and the export growth rate of variable frequency energy-saving escalators, intelligent monitoring escalators and barrier-free escalators all exceeded 20%; third, the old escalator renewal and transformation market is expanding rapidly, the demand for old escalator renewal in mature markets such as Europe, America, Japan and South Korea continues to rise. In 2024, the export value of China's escalator transformation components increased by 22.5% year-on-year, becoming a new export growth engine. This report comprehensively presents the development pattern and export trend of China's escalator and moving walk industry, and provides authoritative data reference for global elevator traders and purchasers to accurately connect with China's escalator supply chain.
