On August 29, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China officially issued the national standard GB/T 21739-2025 Safety Code for the Manufacture and Installation of Home Elevators, replacing the old 2008 version, which will be officially implemented on March 1, 2026. This standard is the only core national standard in the field of home elevators in China. The core contents of this revision include: First, relax the core parameter limits of home elevators, the upper limit of rated speed is increased from 0.4m/s to 0.63m/s, and the maximum lifting height is increased from no more than 12m to no more than 18m, to adapt to the use needs of domestic villas, self-built houses and other home scenarios. Second, add the technical requirements for non-wire rope suspension devices, and clarify the design and test standards for new drive systems such as coated ropes, coated belts, and rack and pinion drives. Third, strengthen the safety performance requirements, clarify that the car door must pass the 1000N mechanical strength test, add electromagnetic compatibility test and fault code storage requirements, and need to retain the last 500 fault records. Fourth, add aging-adaptive and barrier-free design requirements, and standardize the design and installation standards of barrier-free facilities for home elevators. Fifth, refine the requirements for delivery inspection and regular inspection of home elevators, clarify 119 inspection items and judgment standards, and standardize the whole life cycle safety management of home elevators.
