This standard is formulated under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Elevator Standardization of China. It is applicable to escalator steps, moving walk pallets and their matching drive sprockets and tension sprockets, covering the whole life cycle management of product design, production, inspection, installation, use and scrapping. Compared with the old version, the core upgrades of this revision include: first, reconstructing the product classification system, dividing steps into two categories: commercial type and heavy-duty transit type according to the use scenario and load grade, dividing pallets into three categories: ordinary type, heavy-duty type and special type for long span, adding special technical requirements for pallets dedicated to ultra-wide and long-span moving walks, and clarifying the applicable scenarios and load indicators of different types of products; second, greatly improving the mechanical performance and strength indicators, tightening the static load strength, dynamic load strength and impact resistance requirements of steps and pallets. Heavy-duty transit steps must pass 2 million alternating load fatigue tests without structural damage, greatly improving the product reliability in high-load and high-frequency use scenarios; third, refining the dimensional accuracy and assembly requirements, tightening the tolerance limits of dimensional tolerance and geometric tolerance of steps and pallets, clarifying the meshing accuracy and fit clearance requirements of steps and sprockets, and eliminating operation faults such as step deviation, abnormal noise and jamming; fourth, improving the material and surface treatment specifications, clarifying the raw material requirements of steps, pallets and sprockets, mandating the use of high-strength aluminum alloy, stainless steel or engineering plastics, formulating the anti-corrosion and wear resistance performance indicators of surface anodizing, spraying and galvanizing, and formulating special anti-corrosion grade requirements for products used in outdoor and coastal high-corrosion environments; fifth, improving the type test and factory inspection rules, adding special test methods and judgment standards for high and low temperature environment performance test, salt spray corrosion test, wear resistance test and flame retardant performance test, clarifying the items, procedures and validity period of type tests, and tightening the sampling rules and qualification judgment criteria for factory inspection; sixth, clarifying the installation, use and scrapping specifications, refining the installation and commissioning, daily inspection and maintenance requirements of steps, pallets and sprockets, updating the scrapping judgment standards for product wear, deformation, cracks and fatigue damage, and forming a full connection with the Rules for Supervision Inspection and Regular Inspection of Escalators and Moving Walks. The implementation of this standard has comprehensively improved the product quality and technical level of China's escalator steps, pallets and sprockets, guaranteed the operation safety of escalators and moving walks from the level of core load-bearing components, and also promoted the full integration of China's escalator core component products with the international market, further consolidating the core competitiveness of China's escalator industry in the global market.
