China Elevator Association Released the Group Standard T/CEA 0143-2026 Technical Specification for Seismic Design of Lifts
This standard is under the jurisdiction of the China Elevator Association, and is jointly compiled by the Chinese Academy of Building Research and domestic seismic technology research institutions. It is applicable to the seismic design, manufacturing, installation and acceptance of lifts, escalators and moving walks installed in buildings with seismic fortification intensity of 6~9 degrees. The core contents of the standard include: first, establishing the general principles of elevator seismic design, dividing elevator seismic design into four grades according to the seismic fortification intensity of the building and the seismic fortification category of the building, clarifying the design requirements and protection standards corresponding to different seismic grades, and formulating special seismic strengthening requirements for key fortification buildings of Class A and Class B; second, refining the seismic design specifications of the elevator body, formulating special seismic design requirements for the elevator car, guide rails, counterweight, door system, traction machine and safety components, clarifying the seismic strength and stiffness design standards of the guide rail bracket, car guide system and counterweight guide system, mandating that elevators in areas with seismic fortification intensity of 8 degrees and above must be equipped with guide rail anti-drop device, car anti-sway device and counterweight anti-fall device; third, improving the seismic design requirements for escalators and moving walks, formulating special seismic design specifications for escalator trusses, step guide systems, driving devices and tensioning devices, clarifying the connection and fixing requirements between trusses and building structures, mandating that escalators in areas with seismic fortification intensity of 8 degrees and above must be equipped with step anti-drop devices and truss seismic support devices; fourth, standardizing the seismic design requirements for elevator machine rooms and shafts, clarifying the building structure seismic adaptation requirements for elevator machine rooms and shafts, formulating the seismic fixation and vibration isolation buffer design standards for equipment installation, and clarifying the seismic fixation and protection requirements for control cabinets, traction machines and power distribution equipment in the machine room; fifth, clarifying the installation and acceptance standards for seismic elevators, formulating special construction specifications, on-site acceptance items and performance test methods for the installation of seismic elevators, clarifying the installation and commissioning requirements and qualification judgment criteria of seismic components, and incorporating seismic performance into the special content of elevator supervision and inspection; sixth, refining the operation and maintenance and post-earthquake inspection specifications, formulating special requirements for daily inspection and regular maintenance of seismic elevators, clarifying the whole process standards for post-earthquake inspection, performance evaluation, repair and commissioning of elevators after an earthquake, to ensure the safe operation of elevators after the earthquake. The implementation of this standard has comprehensively standardized the seismic design and application market of elevators in China, improved the seismic safety performance of elevators in earthquake-prone areas, and also promoted the integration of China's seismic elevator technology with the international market, providing standardized technical support for the export of China's seismic elevator products to global earthquake-prone areas.
