Main contents of the UAE ESMA Elevator Safety Regulation 2025 Edition:

1.Specifies basic requirements for elevator design, manufacture, installation, inspection and maintenance

2.Requires all elevators to be equipped with emergency call systems, fire alarm systems and emergency lighting systems

3.Specifies the period and content of regular elevator inspections

4.Requires elevator maintenance companies to obtain ESMA certification

5.Requires elevator operators to receive professional training and obtain qualification certificates

6.Added requirements for smart elevators and cybersecurity

7.Strengthened penalties for violations of the regulation

This regulation applies to all elevators, escalators and moving walks installed and used in the UAE. Elevators that do not meet the regulatory requirements will be prohibited from use and subject to fines of up to 500,000 dirhams.
