The core contents of this new regulation include: updating the mandatory standards for SASO certification of elevator products, adding test requirements for safety performance and durability of elevator equipment under desert high temperature and sand dust environment; strengthening the pre-shipment inspection of imported elevator products, all imported elevators must complete the pre-shipment inspection by a Saudi recognized institution in the exporting country, and can only enter the country after obtaining a qualified certificate; clarifying the whole life cycle compliance requirements for elevator products, requiring product suppliers to provide a quality guarantee for core components of no less than 10 years; increasing the punishment for non-compliant products, prohibiting the entry of non-compliant products and listing them in the enterprise blacklist. The new regulation sets a 6-month transition period and will be officially implemented on November 1, 2025.
