Uzbekistan Issued New Preferential Policy on Elevator Import Tariff
On January 22, 2025, the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan, together with the National Standardization Center (UZSTANDARD), officially issued the Announcement on the Adjustment of Import Tariffs for Electromechanical Products, which made a special adjustment to the import tariff policy for complete elevator machines and core components. The core contents of the new policy include: First, for core elevator components (including traction machines, door operators, safety gears, buffers, control cabinets) originating from major trading partner countries such as China, Russia, the European Union and Turkey, the import tariff will be reduced from the original 5% to 0, which will be officially implemented on April 1, 2025. Second, for complete energy-saving elevator machines, the import tariff will be reduced from the original 10% to 3%, with a 3-year transition period, and will be gradually reduced to 0 tariff year by year. Third, upgrade the mandatory UZSTANDARD certification requirements, clarify that all elevator products entering the Uzbekistan market must obtain UZSTANDARD certification, simplify the certification process, and shorten the certification cycle. Fourth, clarify the origin certification standards for elevator products, refine the scope of application of the tariff preferential policy, and simplify the import customs clearance process. Fifth, add a green channel for import customs clearance for green energy-saving elevators and intelligent elevator products, shortening the customs clearance and inspection time. The implementation of this policy has greatly reduced the trade cost of elevator products entering the Uzbekistan market, and further released the growth potential of the Central Asian elevator market.
