This policy is for more than 80,000 existing elevators built before 1995 in Japan. The core contents include: for eligible old elevator seismic renovation projects, the central government provides a subsidy of 50% of the renovation cost, and the local government superimposes a maximum subsidy of 20%, with the total subsidy ratio up to 70%; the renovated elevator must comply with the latest seismic standard JIS A 4301:2024, and must be installed with earthquake early warning linkage system, guide rail seismic reinforcement device, and car anti-falling protection system; the policy also clarifies the application process, acceptance standard and fund allocation mechanism of the renovation project, and the application deadline is December 2027. This policy will greatly promote the development of the seismic renovation market of old elevators in Japan, improve the safety protection capability of existing elevators in earthquake scenarios, and provide a broad market space for seismic elevator technology and products.
