GB 7588 is the core mandatory national standard for China's elevator industry. This revision is the first comprehensive upgrade since the implementation of the standard for 20 years. The core contents include: fully in line with the ISO 8100 international standard, updating the core technical requirements for elevator safety; adding safety specifications for intelligent elevators and IoT elevators, and clarifying the safety requirements for intelligent control systems and remote monitoring systems; strengthening the relevant standards for elevator barrier-free design, energy-saving design and seismic design; updating the test and verification requirements for core elevator safety components, and improving the overall safety performance of elevators; clarifying the safety specifications for the whole process of elevator manufacturing, installation, transformation and repair. The standard sets a 1-year transition period and will be officially implemented on August 1, 2025.
