This standard does not apply to evacuation due to other hazards such as explosion threat, chemical or biological attack, flooding, storm damage, or earthquake. It also does not apply to elevators in buildings that do not comply with the provisions of Annex C. The publication of the standard will help improve the accessibility level of European buildings and ensure the safe evacuation of persons with disabilities and persons with reduced mobility in emergency situations.
