On March 31st, 2025, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development issued the national standard "Residential Project Specifications", adjusting the elevator configuration requirement from residences with seven or more floors to those with four or more floors, which officially took effect on May 1st, 2025. The new regulation clarifies that residences with 4-6 floors shall be equipped with elevators to solve the travel difficulties of the elderly, pregnant women and people with limited mobility. According to statistics, more than 65% of urban residences in China are multi-storey or small high-rise buildings, and this policy will drive a huge demand for residential elevators and trigger a revolution in residential quality.
