On August 1, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China officially issued the national standard GB/T 24803.2-2025 Safety requirements for lifts — Part 2: Safety parameters meeting essential safety requirements, which will be officially implemented on February 1, 2026. This standard is the core basic standard of China's elevator safety standard system. The core contents include: First, clarify the scope of application of the standard, which is applicable to the safety design, manufacture, installation, inspection and transformation of various elevators such as passenger elevators, freight elevators, home elevators, machine-room-less elevators, hydraulic elevators, etc., covering the safety control of the whole life cycle of elevators. Second, standardize the implementation path of the basic safety requirements for elevators, clarify the whole process method of elevator safety risk identification, risk assessment and risk reduction, and provide a standardized framework for elevator safety design. Third, refine the safety parameters of each core link of the elevator, and formulate corresponding safety parameter thresholds, design requirements, protective measures and verification methods for various safety risk scenarios such as elevator mechanical injury, electrical injury, fire risk, fall risk, extrusion risk and shear risk. Fourth, clarify the test and verification methods of elevator safety parameters, standardize the process, equipment, data collection and calculation methods of laboratory testing and on-site testing, to ensure the accuracy and verifiability of safety parameters. Fifth, optimize the hierarchical management and control requirements of elevator safety parameters, and formulate differentiated safety parameter standards for elevators with different use scenarios and different risk levels, to adapt to the use needs of various elevators. Sixth, achieve coordination and unity with international standards. This standard equivalently adopts the core technical requirements of ISO international standards, ensuring that China's elevator safety standards are in line with the global core standards, and facilitating the cross-border trade of Chinese elevator products. The release of this standard has improved China's elevator safety standard system, and provided a unified technical basis for the safety design, manufacture, inspection and supervision of elevator products.
