ISO 8100-1/2:2026 Global Elevator Main Standard Officially Released, Implemented in July 2026
Core changes of the new version of the standard: First, inclusion of non-wire rope suspension devices, for the first time, non-wire rope suspension devices such as carbon fiber traction belts and covered ropes are included in the standard scope, and their technical requirements and test methods are clarified; Second, new requirements for electronic speed limiters, adding technical requirements and test methods for electronic speed limiters, allowing the use of electronic speed limiters to replace traditional mechanical speed limiters; Third, upgraded network security requirements, comprehensively upgrading the network security requirements for smart elevators and IoT elevators, and specifying the technical indicators of data encryption, access control, and vulnerability protection; Fourth, tightened electrical safety requirements, introducing the concept of functional safety, requiring elevator control systems to comply with IEC 61508 functional safety standards; Fifth, upgraded fire performance requirements, clarifying the fire performance requirements of elevator cars, landing doors, and shaft enclosure structures.
