An elevator black box is a device that can record elevator operating status and operation information, including data such as elevator speed, position, door status, button operations, and fault information. Singapore's new regulations stipulate: 1) Elevator black boxes must be able to continuously record operating data for at least 30 days; 2) Black boxes must be waterproof, fireproof, and shockproof, capable of preserving data in elevator accidents; 3) Black box data can only be used for elevator accident investigation and safety analysis; 4) Elevator owners must ensure the normal operation of black boxes and conduct regular inspections and maintenance; 5) Owners who violate the regulations will face fines of up to SGD 5,000. It is estimated that approximately 60,000 elevators in Singapore will need to be equipped with black boxes.
