National Standard GB/T 24477-2025 Technical Specification for Elevator Shaft Lighting and Emergency Lighting Officially Released
This standard is formulated under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Elevator Standardization of China. It is applicable to the shaft lighting, machine room lighting, control cabinet lighting and emergency lighting systems of traction and positive drive lifts and hydraulic lifts, covering the whole life cycle management of lighting system design, production, installation, inspection, operation and maintenance. The core contents of the standard include: first, clarifying the overall design requirements of the lighting system, establishing the design principles of "safety first, energy saving and high efficiency, stability and reliability, easy maintenance", and clarifying the lighting design standards and illumination requirements of different areas such as elevator shaft, machine room, car top, pit, and control cabinet; second, refining the special technical requirements for shaft lighting, mandating that the elevator shaft lighting must adopt continuous lighting design, lighting lamps must be set within 0.5m of the highest and lowest positions in the shaft, the spacing between intermediate lighting lamps shall not be greater than 7m, and the illumination at any position in the shaft shall not be less than 50lx; it is clarified that the protection grade of shaft lighting lamps shall not be lower than IP44, and not lower than IP54 in humid and corrosive environments, and the power supply must adopt safety voltage power supply; third, improving the lighting requirements for machine rooms and auxiliary areas, clarifying the illumination standards for elevator machine rooms, car tops, pits and pulley rooms. The illumination of the operation area in the machine room shall not be less than 200lx, and the illumination of the car top and pit operation areas shall not be less than 100lx. For maintenance operation scenarios, special technical requirements for portable maintenance lighting are formulated; fourth, standardizing the design requirements of the emergency lighting system, mandating that the elevator machine room, shaft, car top and pit must be equipped with an emergency lighting system, the switching time of the emergency lighting power supply shall not be greater than 0.5s, and the continuous power supply time of emergency lighting shall not be less than 90min; for extreme scenarios such as elevator power failure and fire, the automatic start-up and continuous operation requirements of emergency lighting are clarified; fifth, improving the electrical safety and control requirements, clarifying the power distribution design, grounding protection, short circuit protection and overload protection requirements of the lighting system, formulating the setting specifications of lighting switches. The shaft lighting switch must be equipped with double control switches in the machine room and the pit respectively to ensure the safety of maintenance operations; sixth, improving the inspection and acceptance rules, clarifying the on-site inspection items, test methods and qualification judgment standards of the elevator lighting system, and incorporating shaft lighting and emergency lighting into the mandatory items of elevator supervision inspection and regular inspection; seventh, refining the operation and maintenance and replacement specifications, formulating the cycle and project requirements for daily inspection, regular maintenance and lamp replacement of the lighting system, and clarifying the regular inspection and scrapping replacement standards of the emergency lighting power supply. The implementation of this standard has comprehensively standardized the design, installation and application of elevator shaft lighting and emergency lighting in China, guaranteed the personal safety of elevator maintenance operators from the level of electrical safety, and also promoted the standardized development of elevator lighting system technology, providing standardized technical support for the global export of China's elevator electrical components.
