Singapore Issued New Regulations on Elevator Maintenance Supervision
The core contents of this new regulation include: updating the qualification grading standard of elevator maintenance units, establishing a credit evaluation system for maintenance units, and implementing hierarchical supervision; refining the mandatory items and frequency of elevator maintenance, requiring that in-service elevators must complete at least 1 routine maintenance per month and 1 special safety inspection per quarter; clarifying the certification requirements for elevator maintenance personnel, all maintenance operators must obtain the special qualification certificate issued by the Building and Construction Authority of Singapore; establishing an electronic record system for elevator maintenance to realize the traceability of the whole maintenance process. The new regulation sets a 6-month transition period and will be officially implemented on September 1, 2025. All units carrying out elevator maintenance business in Singapore must meet the new supervision requirements.
