Update of ANSI Elevator Safety Standards in the United States
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) issued a new version of elevator safety standards in 2024, comprehensively strengthening the safety detection of elevator door systems, adding air quality control requirements in carriages, and clarifying the qualification training and management specifications for maintenance personnel. The standards require elevator doors to have higher anti-pinch and anti-collision capabilities, with regular safety performance detection; carriages must be equipped with air purification devices to ensure air quality; maintenance personnel must pass special training assessments and hold certificates to take up their posts, improving the safe operation level of elevators in the United States.
