Core revisions of new CSA B44-26: first, mandatory intelligent safety functions, elevators must be equipped with intelligent functions such as remote monitoring, fault early warning, emergency leveling, automatic trapped person alarm, voice comfort, safety control system redundant design, dual-circuit independent, fault self-diagnosis, safety response time ≤0.01s; second, upgraded fire and explosion protection standards, aligning with US NFPA 101 and Canadian NBCC building codes, elevator shaft fire resistance ≥2h, landing door fire resistance ≥1h, flame-retardant materials, smoke-proof sealing, emergency smoke exhaust comprehensively strengthened, high-rise elevators must be equipped with fire special circuit, emergency evacuation mode; third, tightened electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), implementing latest version of IEC 61000-6-2, radiation emission limit reduced by 35%, anti-interference level upgraded to 30V/m radio frequency field, ±15kV static electricity, avoiding interference with North American medical, communication and aviation equipment; fourth, added energy efficiency requirements, elevator energy efficiency must reach IE4 and above, energy feedback elevators preferentially certified, standby energy consumption ≤0.5kW, included in North American Energy Star certification scope; fifth, simplified testing and certification, recognizing Chinese type test reports, CNAS laboratory test data, reducing repeated tests, certification cycle shortened from 6 months to 3 months, cost reduced by 40%. In response to the new regulation, China Elevator Association jointly with CSA International, UL, ETL launches North American certification special service package, providing one-stop solutions including standard interpretation, technical rectification, testing certification and certificate renewal. By April 2026, over 120 Chinese elevator enterprises have completed CSA B44-26 certification upgrade, ensuring stable growth of China's elevator North American market share (current proportion 28%).
