Core changes of the new standards: First, global unified standards, the ISO 8100 series standards are the world's first unified international standards for elevator safety and design, replacing the original EU EN 81 series standards and different national standards of various countries, realizing the global unification of elevator standards and promoting the global trade of elevator products; Second, upgraded electrical and functional safety, comprehensively upgraded the safety requirements of elevator electrical systems and control systems, introduced the concept of functional safety, requiring elevator control systems to comply with the ISO 13849 functional safety standard, and improving the safety and reliability of elevator operation; Third, new cybersecurity requirements, for the first time, cybersecurity is included in elevator standard requirements, clarifying the cybersecurity protection requirements for smart elevators and IoT elevators, specifying the technical indicators of data encryption, access control, vulnerability protection and intrusion detection to prevent malicious intrusion into elevator systems; Fourth, tightened energy efficiency requirements, upgraded elevator energy efficiency requirements, clarified the limits of elevator standby power consumption and operating energy consumption, requiring elevators to be equipped with energy feedback systems to improve energy utilization efficiency and reduce elevator operating energy consumption; Fifth, certification transition period arrangement, the EU stipulates that from October 1, 2026, elevator products newly applying for CE certification must meet the requirements of the ISO 8100 series standards; from October 1, 2028, all elevator products sold in the EU market must meet the requirements of the new standards, and the certification certificates of the original EN 81-20/50 standards will be invalid.
