GB/T 31821-2026 Technical Conditions for Scrap of Main Components of Lifts Revised and Released, Implemented in August 2026
Core upgrade contents of the standard: First, expanded coverage, based on the 13 types of components in the original standard, 9 types of core components of smart elevators such as elevator door machine system, control cabinet, frequency converter, touch screen control terminal, IoT monitoring device, and AI intelligent dispatching system are added, covering the main components of the whole elevator system; Second, clear safe service life, for the first time, the recommended safe service life of main elevator components is clarified: traction machine 15 years, steel wire rope 10 years, buffer 15 years, safety gear 15 years, speed limiter 10 years, door machine system 10 years, control cabinet 15 years. Components that reach the service life must undergo safety performance testing, and those that do not meet the requirements must be scrapped compulsorily; Third, detailed scrap judgment indicators, for each type of component, the quantitative scrap judgment indicators of mechanical wear, electrical aging, performance attenuation, and safety function failure are clarified. For example, if the number of broken steel wire ropes reaches 10% of the total number of wires, and the diameter wear reaches 10% of the nominal diameter, it must be scrapped. If the wear of the traction machine worm gear reaches 20% of the tooth thickness, it must be scrapped; Fourth, intelligent component scrap specification, added scrap technical conditions for electrical intelligent components such as frequency converters, PLCs, touch screens, and IoT devices, and clarified the scrap judgment standards for electrical component aging, insulation performance degradation, function failure, and irreparability; Fifth, unified testing method, standardizing the testing method, equipment requirements, and judgment process for scrap of main elevator components, clarifying the qualification requirements of third-party testing institutions, and providing a unified basis for safety assessment and scrap judgment of old elevators.
