This standard is the first fully revised core elevator safety standard issued by the UK after Brexit. The core contents include: on the basis of retaining the core framework of the EU EN 81 standard, adding technical requirements adapted to the UK local market; updating the test and verification standards for core elevator safety components, and strengthening the testing requirements of UK local certification bodies; adding the corrosion resistance requirements of elevator equipment under the UK's coastal high salt spray and rainy environment; updating the safety specifications of elevator intelligent control systems and remote operation and maintenance systems; clarifying the technical basis for UKCA certification of UK elevator products, all elevator products entering the UK market must meet the requirements of the new version of the standard. The standard sets a 6-month transition period and will be officially implemented on September 1, 2026.
