New Chilean Elevator Safety Regulations Implemented in June 2026, Electrical System and Cybersecurity Requirements Fully Upgraded
Core changes of the new regulation: First, electrical safety upgrade, elevator electrical system must comply with IEC 60364-7-729 standard, add mandatory test requirements for short circuit protection, overload protection, and leakage protection. Electrical components must pass the Chilean SEC safety certification; Second, mandatory cybersecurity requirements, intelligent elevators with networking and remote monitoring functions must comply with the IEC 62443 industrial cybersecurity standard, have data encryption, access control, and vulnerability protection functions, and must submit a cybersecurity risk assessment report; Third, tightened EMC electromagnetic compatibility, elevator electrical equipment must pass all electromagnetic compatibility tests of EN 55011 and EN 61000 series, and the radiation interference limit is reduced by 30% compared with the old standard; Fourth, adjusted certification mode, the recognition of overseas laboratory test reports is cancelled. All tests must be completed in Chilean local accredited laboratories. Enterprises applying for certification for the first time must pass the factory audit, and the certificate validity period is shortened from 5 years to 3 years; Fifth, strengthened market supervision, Chilean customs list elevators as key inspection commodities. Products without certification will be directly returned. Enterprises selling in violation of regulations will be fined up to 25% of the goods value. Those with serious circumstances will be blacklisted and prohibited from entering the Chilean market within 5 years.
