ISO 8100-1:2026 specifies safety rules for the construction and installation of passenger and goods passenger lifts, while ISO 8100-2:2026 covers calculation, testing and documentation requirements for elevator components. Key updates include: replacing the PESSRAL concept with SIL-rated safety circuits; considering digital safety risks for the first time with a dedicated cybersecurity section; separating building requirements into a separate appendix; restructuring documentation including new requirements for declarations of conformity, risk analyses and operating instructions. The European versions EN ISO 8100-1/2 will become harmonized standards approximately 6 months after publication in the Official Journal of the EU.
