Key changes in the new Machinery Regulation include: cybersecurity becomes a mandatory requirement, all networked machinery must be capable of withstanding digital threats; covers systems using machine learning and self-evolving behavior; introduces unit verification option for custom-made machinery; restructures the former Annex IV (high-risk machinery) into Annex I, divided into Category A (requires Notified Body approval) and Category B (self-declaration possible). Importantly, there is no transition period, and all machinery placed on the EU market after January 20, 2027 must comply with the new regulation. Existing certificates can only continue to be used if they fully cover the requirements of the new regulation.
