EN 81-41:2024 Safety Standard for Vertical Lifting Platforms for Persons with Reduced Mobility Published
Core safety requirements of EN 81-41:2024:
1.Vertical space adaptability: Platform dimensions must meet the requirements for barrier-free parking and turning of standard wheelchairs (600mm×900mm), and entrance clear width ≥800mm to match wheelchair passage width
2.Fall prevention safety redundancy: Requires dual protection devices for chain/wire rope breakage and overspeed, with response time of fall prevention mechanism in case of sudden failure ≤0.3 seconds
3.Intelligent safety monitoring: Equipment must have door interlock function, prohibiting startup when doors are not closed, and supporting EU multilingual voice prompts for operating status
4.Mechanical safety: Radial runout of guiding mechanism ≤0.5mm to ensure smooth operation; platform guardrail height ≥1100mm, and automatic flaps must be raised 75° during lifting to form safety barriers
5.Electrical safety: Control circuit insulation resistance ≥1MΩ, waterproof grade of equipment used in public places reaches IPX4, and emergency stop button adopts red mushroom head design with diameter ≥40mm
This standard does not apply to inclined lifting platforms, stair lifts, or lifting equipment primarily used for transporting goods.
