On December 20, 2024, Indonesia Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) released Elevator Safety and Maintenance Management Measures, implemented on May 1, 2025. Core contents:

1. Maintenance qualification: Maintenance units must PUPR registered, maintenance personnel certified, annual training ≥30 hours;

2. Maintenance specifications: Maintenance cycle 15 days, full coverage of items, records electronically archived for 7 years, heavy penalty for false maintenance;

3. Safety supervision: Elevators and safety components must SNI certified, affix mark, uncertified products prohibited from use;

4. Emergency rescue: Rescue arrive within 45 minutes when trapped, emergency device tested monthly, public buildings equipped with emergency power supply;

5. Old elevators: Annual assessment for over 15 years, semi-annual assessment for over 20 years, unqualified elevators stopped;

6. Import control: Imported elevators must SNI certified, customs inspection release, prohibited second-hand elevator import;

7. Penalties: Maximum fine of 200 million Indonesian rupiah for violation, product confiscation, liability for responsible persons. The new regulations standardize Indonesia elevator maintenance and safety supervision.
