JIS Released New Version of Japanese Elevator Safety Standard
JIS A 4301 is the core national standard for Japan's elevator industry. The core revisions of this new version of the standard include: strengthening the seismic performance requirements of elevators, updating the seismic design and test standards of elevators in Japan's earthquake-prone environment; adding technical specifications for elevator intelligent operation and maintenance systems, and clarifying the relevant requirements for fault early warning and remote monitoring; updating the elevator barrier-free design standard, and refining the aging-friendly design requirements of elevators in an aging society; adding relevant technical standards for elevator energy saving and environmental protection, which is compatible with Japan's carbon neutrality policy; updating the performance requirements and test methods of core elevator safety components. The standard sets a 6-month transition period and will be officially implemented on April 1, 2025.
