ASME A17.1 is the core mandatory standard for the elevator industry in the United States, Canada and North America. The core revisions of this new version of the standard include: adding safety and privacy protection requirements for elevator remote monitoring and intelligent operation and maintenance systems; updating the technical specifications for elevator barrier-free design, and refining various safety requirements for elevators used by people with disabilities; strengthening the relevant standards for elevator maintenance and inspection, and clarifying the safety specifications and inspection items for maintenance operations; updating the technical requirements for elevator emergency rescue, and adding automatic rescue standards under power failure and fault conditions; adding relevant requirements for elevator sustainable design and energy saving, which is compatible with American green building standards. The standard will be officially implemented on January 1, 2025.
