This new regulation unifies the elevator safety supervision requirements of various emirates in UAE. The core contents include: establishing a unified federal elevator registration system, all elevators in the territory must complete federal-level registration and filing; updating the mandatory standards for elevator installation, acceptance, maintenance and inspection, adding safety performance requirements for elevator equipment under high temperature and high humidity environment; clarifying the mandatory frequency of elevator safety inspection, all in-service elevators must complete a safety inspection by a federally recognized institution once a year; increasing the punishment for non-compliant elevators, with a maximum fine of 500,000 dirhams. The new regulation will be officially implemented on December 1, 2024.
