2025 Global Top 10 Countries by Elevator Ownership Released
In December 2025, the International Federation of Elevator Associations (GEEAF) officially released the 2025 Global Elevator Industry Stock Market Development Report, announcing the 2025 global top 10 countries by elevator ownership. According to the report, as of the end of 2025, the total number of elevators in use worldwide exceeded 23 million, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%, and the global elevator industry has fully entered a development stage dominated by the stock market. The TOP 10 ranking released this time is as follows: 1. China, with an ownership of 10.5 million units, accounting for 45.7% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 7.2%, firmly ranking first in the world; 2. United States, with an ownership of 2.85 million units, accounting for 12.4% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 3.2%; 3. EU 27 countries, with an ownership of 2.6 million units, accounting for 11.3% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 2.8%; 4. Japan, with an ownership of 1.05 million units, accounting for 4.6% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 2.5%; 5. South Korea, with an ownership of 780,000 units, accounting for 3.4% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 3.5%; 6. Russia, with an ownership of 620,000 units, accounting for 2.7% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 3.8%; 7. India, with an ownership of 580,000 units, accounting for 2.5% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 12.5%, ranking first among the top ten countries in the world in terms of growth rate; 8. Brazil, with an ownership of 450,000 units, accounting for 2.0% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 4.2%; 9. Turkey, with an ownership of 380,000 units, accounting for 1.7% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%; 10. Canada, with an ownership of 320,000 units, accounting for 1.4% of the global total, a year-on-year increase of 3.7%. The report also pointed out that the total number of old elevators with a service life of more than 15 years worldwide has exceeded 7 million, accounting for more than 30% of the global elevator ownership. The rising demand for maintenance, transformation and renewal of old elevators is the core growth track of the global elevator industry in the future. Emerging markets such as China, India and Southeast Asia are still the regions with the fastest growth in global elevator ownership, and the growth of mature markets in Europe and the United States mainly comes from the renewal and transformation of old elevators.
