On October 10, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China officially issued the national standard GB/T 39172-2025 Non-Wire Rope Suspension Devices for Elevators, replacing the old 2020 version, which will be officially implemented on May 1, 2026. This standard is the core safety standard in the field of non-wire rope suspension devices for elevators in China. The core upgrade contents of this revision include: First, expand the scope of application of the standard, covering various non-wire rope suspension devices such as coated ropes, coated belts, carbon fiber composite core ropes, and composite material belts, adapting to various elevator types such as machine-room-less elevators, ultra-high-speed elevators, and home elevators. Second, upgrade the core safety performance requirements, refine the mandatory technical standards for tensile strength, fatigue performance, wear resistance, aging resistance, and flame retardant performance of non-wire rope suspension devices, and greatly improve the safety redundancy requirements. Third, add the whole life cycle life assessment requirements, clarify the methods and standards for life design, life test, and remaining life assessment of non-wire rope suspension devices, to ensure the use safety of the device in the whole life cycle. Fourth, standardize the requirements for type test and routine test, refine the test items, test methods, equipment requirements and qualification criteria of non-wire rope suspension devices, to ensure the consistency and reliability of product performance. Fifth, add installation and maintenance requirements, clarify the installation specifications, daily inspection, regular maintenance, and scrap replacement standards of non-wire rope suspension devices, and standardize the whole process management of field application. Sixth, achieve coordination with international standards, align with the latest draft international standard for non-wire rope suspension devices issued by ISO, and provide technical support for Chinese elevator products to enter the international market. The release of this standard has improved the standard system of new elevator suspension systems in China, and promoted the safe and standardized application of non-wire rope suspension technology.
