National Standard GB/T 30692-2025 Rules for the Improvement of Safety of Existing Escalators and Moving Walks Officially Released and Implemented
This standard is formulated under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Elevator Standardization of China, and is an important supporting specification for the mandatory national standard GB 16899. It is applicable to the safety upgrading and transformation projects of all in-service escalators and moving walks in China. Compared with the old version, the core upgrades of this revision include: first, based on the analysis of global escalator safety accident data in the past 10 years, it improves the list of major hazards, and adds special safety requirements for high-frequency risk scenarios such as personnel falling, step missing, and abnormal handrail speed; second, it refines the technical indicators for safety upgrading and transformation acceptance standards of core components of in-service escalators, such as truss structure, step pedals, driving devices, handrail systems, and braking systems, and clarifies the differentiated safety upgrading requirements for equipment with different service lives; third, it adds technical specifications for the installation of escalator IoT monitoring and intelligent early warning systems, adapting to the digital transformation needs of the industry; fourth, it clarifies the process, methods and judgment criteria for safety assessment of in-service escalators, providing a standardized basis for the transformation of old escalators and risk classification management and control. The implementation of this standard comprehensively standardizes the safety transformation market of in-service escalators and moving walks in China, promotes the improvement of the safety management system for the whole life cycle of escalator equipment, and also provides standardized technical support for the export of Chinese escalator products and transformation solutions, adapting to the market demand of global old escalator transformation.
