On August 29, 2025, the State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China officially issued the national standard GB/T 21739-2025 Safety Code for the Manufacture and Installation of Home Elevators, replacing the old 2008 version, which will be officially implemented on March 1, 2026. This standard is the core safety standard in the field of home elevators in China. The core upgrade contents of this revision include: First, relax the core parameter limits of home elevators, the upper limit of rated speed is increased from 0.4m/s to 0.63m/s, and the maximum lifting height is increased from no more than 12m to no more than 18m, to adapt to the use needs of Chinese home scenarios. Second, add special safety requirements for non-wire rope suspension devices, and formulate complete design, test, inspection and life evaluation standards for new suspension systems such as coated ropes and coated belts, filling the standard gap of new technologies. Third, upgrade the safety requirements of the elevator door system, clarify that the car door must pass the 1000N mechanical strength test, and refine the mandatory standards for anti-pinch protection, fault monitoring and emergency unlocking of the door system. Fourth, add electromagnetic compatibility test requirements, clarify the electromagnetic compatibility test standards for the electrical system of home elevators, to ensure that the elevator operation does not interfere with other household electronic equipment, and at the same time resist external electromagnetic interference. Fifth, upgrade the fault monitoring and recording requirements, clarify that the elevator control system must store the last 500 fault code records, to facilitate fault troubleshooting and maintenance. Sixth, refine the inspection requirements for home elevators, clarify 119 mandatory inspection items for inspection before delivery and regular inspection, covering core dimensions such as safety performance, operating performance, and electrical safety. Seventh, it is recommended that home elevators be equipped with electric bicycle blocking devices to improve the fire safety level of residential home elevators. Eighth, optimize the requirements for car leveling accuracy, clarify that the car leveling accuracy should be 10mm, and if the leveling retention accuracy exceeds 15mm, it should be automatically corrected, to improve the ride comfort and safety.
