Core changes of the new regulation: First, new cybersecurity requirements, for the first time, cybersecurity is included in elevator safety standards, clarifying that smart elevators and IoT elevators must comply with the Australian Cybersecurity Framework (ACSF) requirements, and specifying the technical indicators of data encryption, access control, vulnerability protection, intrusion detection and security updates to prevent malicious intrusion into elevator systems; Second, tightened electrical safety requirements, upgraded the safety requirements of elevator electrical systems, introduced the concept of functional safety, requiring elevator control systems to comply with IEC 61508 functional safety standards, and improving the safety and reliability of elevator operation; Third, upgraded fire performance requirements, clarifying that materials used in elevator cars, landing doors and shaft enclosure structures must comply with the Australian AS 1530 fire protection standard. Flame retardant performance, smoke density and toxicity indicators must pass the test, and fire elevators must comply with Australian fire protection specifications; Fourth, tightened energy efficiency requirements, upgraded elevator energy efficiency requirements, clarifying that passenger elevators and escalators entering the Australian market must reach energy efficiency grade 3 and above, and the energy efficiency grade must be marked on the product nameplate; Fifth, adjusted certification process, elevator products must first obtain AS/NZS 1735:2026 standard certification, and the certification certificate must be submitted when each batch of goods is cleared. The certification certificate of the original AS/NZS 1735:2018 standard will expire on July 1, 2028.
