Main requirements of the EU Elevator Ecodesign Regulation:

1.Energy efficiency requirements: Elevators will be classified into seven energy efficiency grades from A to G. From January 1, 2027, all newly installed elevators must reach at least grade D energy efficiency; from January 1, 2030, they must reach at least grade B energy efficiency

2.Repairability requirements: Elevators must be easy to repair and maintain, key components must be replaceable individually, and repair tools and spare parts must be available for at least 10 years after product discontinuation

3.Recyclability requirements: The material recovery rate of elevators must reach at least 85%, of which the recovery rate of plastic materials must reach at least 50%

4.Information requirements: Manufacturers must provide detailed product information, including energy efficiency labels, repair manuals, spare parts lists, disassembly guides, etc.

5.Digital product passport: From January 1, 2028, all new elevators must be equipped with a digital product passport containing information about the product's entire lifecycle

This regulation applies to all new elevators sold in the EU market, including passenger elevators, goods elevators, escalators and moving walks. Elevators that do not meet the regulatory requirements will not be allowed to be sold in the EU market.
