On November 5, 2025, the Ministry of Development of Greece officially issued the Announcement on the Administration of Mandatory Electronic Registration of National Elevators, launching full-life cycle digital traceability supervision for all in-use elevators in Greece. The core contents include: First, clarify the main body of registration responsibility. The elevator property owner, building manager or their legal representative is the first responsible person for registration. The common property needs to coordinate the unified declaration, and can entrust a qualified elevator maintenance/installation unit to operate on their behalf. Second, standardize the core registration information, which requires filling in 7 core identity information including elevator installation address, cadastral code, installation year, number of stopping floors, CE safety mark, maintenance unit, and annual inspection record, to ensure the traceability of the whole life cycle of the elevator. Third, clarify the registration time limit. All in-use elevators must complete registration through the Greek National Elevator Registration System before November 30, 2025, and elevators in public buildings need to complete the declaration first. Fourth, formulate violation punishment measures. The responsible subject who fails to complete the registration within the time limit will face an administrative fine of up to 5,000 euros, and continuous violations will be subject to superimposed penalties, while unregistered elevators are not allowed to continue operation. Fifth, clarify that the registration system is linked with the national elevator safety supervision platform, and the registration information will be connected with annual inspection, maintenance records, and emergency rescue data to realize the whole process digital supervision of elevator safety.
