On November 18, 2024, the ISO/TC 178 Technical Committee of the International Organization for Standardization officially issued the technical report ISO/TR 8101-10:2024 Fire safety on lifts — Part 10: Comparison of safety standards worldwide on lifts used by firefighters and for building evacuation, which is the world's first special document for cross-border comparison of fire elevator standards. The core contents of the report include: First, it systematically compares the differences in the design, manufacture, installation and inspection requirements of fire elevators in the global mainstream standard systems such as ISO, EN, ASME, GB and JIS, and sorts out the core technical differences of national standards. Second, it clarifies the core performance requirements of fire elevators in fire scenarios, including the unified technical guidelines for power supply reliability, waterproof protection, high temperature resistance, and emergency control logic. Third, it standardizes the applicable scenarios and safety boundaries of fire elevators for building personnel evacuation, providing a unified reference for countries to revise fire elevator standards. Fourth, it puts forward the technical path for the mutual recognition of global fire elevator standards, and promotes the compliance facilitation of fire elevator products in cross-border trade. The report is applicable to fire elevators in all new and existing buildings, and has been adopted as a reference document for standard revision by standardization institutions in many countries around the world.
