How do I measure an elevator push button before ordering a replacement?

Record the panel cutout shape and size, fixing method, panel thickness and rear clearance. Photograph the contact block and connector as well as the button face. Include the button symbol, illumination details and part code so the replacement can be checked mechanically and electrically.
