This standard is formulated under the jurisdiction of the National Technical Committee for Elevator Standardization of China. It is applicable to buffers for traction-driven lifts, positive-driven lifts, hydraulic lifts, escalators and moving walks, covering the whole life cycle management of buffer design, production, inspection, use and scrapping. Compared with the old version, the core upgrades of this revision include: first, reconstructing the buffer classification system, dividing buffers into three categories: energy dissipating type, energy accumulating type (linear/non-linear) and composite type according to the working principle, applicable scenarios and speed grades, clarifying the applicable speed range and scenario requirements of different types of buffers, among which the upper limit of rated speed applicable to non-linear energy accumulating buffers is increased from 1m/s to 1.6m/s; second, greatly improving the core safety performance indicators, clarifying the mandatory technical requirements for the maximum deceleration, average deceleration, braking stroke and reset time of the buffer, stipulating that the maximum deceleration during buffer action shall not be greater than 1g, and the duration shall not exceed 0.04s, to eliminate the risk of personal injury caused by hard braking of the buffer; third, refining the special technical requirements for different types of buffers, clarifying the technical indicators of hydraulic oil performance, sealing performance and high and low temperature resistance for energy dissipating buffers; formulating mandatory requirements for anti-aging, anti-fatigue and flame retardant properties of polyurethane materials for non-linear energy accumulating buffers; fourth, improving the type test and factory inspection specifications, adding the fatigue life test requirements of buffers, stipulating that the performance of buffers must still meet the standard requirements after passing 1 million times of rated load impact tests; clarifying the items, procedures and judgment standards of type tests, and adding the test requirements for the software functional safety of buffers (applicable to buffers with intelligent monitoring functions); fifth, clarifying the service life and scrapping specifications of buffers, refining the scrapping judgment standards for buffer wear, aging, deformation and leakage, and clarifying the recommended service life and regular inspection requirements of different types of buffers; sixth, adding the technical specifications for intelligent monitoring of buffers, clarifying the performance requirements, data transmission standards and fault early warning rules of buffers with IoT monitoring functions, adapting to the intelligent development trend of the industry. The implementation of this standard has comprehensively improved the product quality and safety performance of elevator buffers in China, guaranteed the safety of elevator operation from the level of core components, and also promoted the full integration of China's elevator core component products with the international market, further enhanced the competitiveness of China's elevator core components in the global market, and provided core component quality support for the global export of Chinese elevator products.
