Core revisions of this standard:

first, strengthening heavy-duty safety design, for public transport heavy-duty escalators in subways, high-speed rail stations, airports, improving safety factors of steps, pallets, chains, drive systems, clarifying structural strength and fatigue life requirements under ultra-high usage frequency of 12000 times/hour, chain breaking strength increased by 30%;

second, improving intelligent safety protection, adding requirements for intelligent devices such as AI video monitoring, foreign object identification, anti-fall detection, overspeed and reverse protection, escalators must be equipped with integrated system of real-time safety monitoring, automatic alarm, emergency braking;

third, refining passenger safety protection, upgrading safety standards for comb plates, skirt panels, handrails, anti-pinch devices, clearance between skirt panel and step ≤4mm, adding special device requirements for children anti-pinch, wheelchair anti-jamming, blind warning;

fourth, standardizing fire protection and environmental protection, clarifying requirements for flame-retardant materials, fireproof plugging, emergency evacuation of escalators, materials must comply with EU ROHS, EU REACH environmental directives, restricting use of hazardous substances;

fifth, unifying testing and certification, formulating globally unified methods for load testing, fatigue testing, safety device testing, intelligent function testing, certification results mutually recognized globally.

After implementation of this standard, China's escalator safety standards fully align with international standards, further consolidating China's leading position in the global escalator market (accounting for 65% of global output), providing authoritative safety certification basis for overseas public transport and commercial real estate project procurement.
